The UK based tech start up eWATERpay has been selected from a highly competitive field of over 200 startups in 36 countries to participate in Imagine H2O’s 2018 Accelerator. Since launching its first program in 2009, 80 startups have leveraged IH2O to secure customers, investors and visibility in a challenging market.
In 2017 alone, IH2O’s Accelerator companies and alumni will have collectively raised over $50 million from investors and secured notable customer opportunities within IH2O Beta Partners network. For 2018, IH2O’s judges have identified a diverse group of entrepreneurs and companies at the forefront of innovation in the water sector – including eWATERpay.
As an Accelerator company, eWATERpay will receive access to IH2O’s global network of customers, investors, mentors and advisors. Additionally, engaging fellow participants and IH2O alumni provide invaluable learning and networking opportunities with other respected entrepreneurs.
Imagine H2O selected 12 startups to advance to its eighth annual Accelerator Program. The finalists will be honoured at Imagine H2O’s WaterGala ’18 March 14 in San Francisco, where the organization will announce the challenge’s overall winner.
eWATERpay will join the organization’s growing portfolio of 70 alumni companies, which represent more than $1 in every $10 of earlystage investment in the water sector.
“This is an impressive group of companies doing important work in their chosen area,” said Paul Gagliardo, innovation director at American Water and member of the judging panel. “Scaling their business through Imagine H2O’s program will be a unique opportunity to bring their innovations to market.”
Alison Wedgwood, Co Founder and CEO said “we are truly delighted to be selected for this prestigious Accelerator Programme. It demonstrates the belief in eWATERpay as a unique, innovative solution to the global maintenance crisis, and recognises the potential for eWATERpay to go to scale and access the huge multibillion dollar market for financially sustainable urban and rural water supplies. We are grateful to both the UK’s Department for International Development and the GSMA’s Mobile for Development Utilities Fund for their support over the past 18 months.”
Imagine H2O provides a proven path to market for early stage water companies, with participants benefitting from executive mentorship, market visibility, investor introductions, and connections to Imagine H2O’s Beta Partners, a global network of companies and utilities committed to deploying water technology.
Imagine H2O’s judging panel includes industry experts and leaders from, among others, XPV Water Partners, DC Water, True North Venture Partners and IBM. The judges selected the finalists based on market viability, value proposition and go to market strategy.
